Qurbani 2023: Share your Blessings

Al-Ayn Social Care Foundation can assist with the preparation of Udhiyyas (Qurbanis) for distribution among the families of orphaned children in Iraq on the auspicious occasion of Eid Al-Adha.

The cost for each Udhiyya this year will be;

  • $410 for a lamb in Iraq
  • $2500 for a calf in Iraq

We kindly ask that you donate your Qurbani with us by 19th June 2023. Any donations made after this date will be postponed until the following year.

Please note that if any excess remains after converting to local currency and purchasing the Udhiyyah, this excess will be given to the orphaned children.

Qurbani Fund

If you are unable to offer a full Qurbani this year, you can still enjoy the blessings of Eid Al-Adha by donating to the Qurbani Fund. No matter the amount, your contribution will be added with other donations to help feed orphaned children and their families on Eid Al-Adha.

While your contribution will not count as a full Qurbani donation, it is a generous act of charity that will bring joy to families in need during this auspicious time.

What is Qurbani/Udhiyya?

Qurbani is an important Islamic practice that involves the sacrifice of a livestock animal on Eid Al-Adha. Qurbani is compulsory for everyone participating in Hajj during the month of Dhul Hijjah, but it’s also greatly recommended for all Muslims.

Qurbani – a symbol of selflessness and generosity

Many families in Iraq are facing food insecurity. More than 48.8% of children  face a greater likelihood of vulnerability due to experiencing various forms of deprivation.

Your Qurbani can provide them with relief amid their struggles.

Al-Ayn ensures that orphaned children and families in need receive a substantial meal during Eid Al-Adha.

Qurbani FAQs

What is Qurbani?

Qurbani is an important Islamic practice that involves the sacrifice of a livestock animal on Eid Al-Adha. This is an act of faith dedicated to Allah (SWT) and serves as a reminder of Prophet Ibrahim’s (AS) willingness to sacrifice his own son when asked by God to do so in a dream.

As commanded by God, Prophet Ibrahim (AS) went to the top of Mount Arafat to sacrifice his son, Prophet Ismail (AS). At the final moment, Allah (SWT) miraculously moved his son to safety and replaced him with a sheep.

Is it compulsory to give Qurbani?

Qurbani is compulsory for everyone participating in Hajj during the month of Dhul Hijjah (the last month of the Islamic calendar); but it’s also greatly recommended for all Muslims.

Which animals can be sacrificed on Eid Al-Adha?

The animals that can be slaughtered for Qurbani are sheep, cattle, goats and camels. It is recommended that the animal is healthy, with no signs of malnourishment.

When should I donate towards Qurbani?

The sacrifice must be performed on Eid Al-Adha. This means you should donate your Qurbani before 19th June 2023 in order to give us enough time to prepare and perform your sacrifice. All donations received after that date will be postponed to next year.
